Merry Christmas Day 30 - Silent Night (2023)Jennifer Says - On Christmas Eve, Father and son are caught in gang crossfire. Son is killed and father is wounded which costs him his voice. During the year while he recovers the father trains and prepares to avenge his son’s death on the following Christmas Eve. This movie is directed by John Woo, who also directed Face/Off and Mission Impossible II, and from the producers of John Wick. It stars Joel Kinnaman from The Killing, Altered Carbon, and Suicide Squad movies. This action flick may appeal to those who aren’t fans of most Christmas movies. It made my list because I have loved Kinnaman’s roles that I have seen him in. It looks to be a fast-paced thrill ride. Streaming Availability - This movie is currently showing in movie theaters. Merry Christmas Day 29 - Catch Me If You Claus (2003)Jennifer Says - Avery Quin wants to be a news anchor and finally gets an opportunity to try when she gets her shot the night before she is awakened by an intruder claiming to be Santa’s son, Chris. They end up on the run from criminals. Avery Quin is played by Italia Ricci from Designated Survivor and The Imperfects. Chris is played by Luke Macfarlane from Bros, Killjoys, and Brothers and Sisters. This made my list because of Luke Macfarlane. He is one of my favorite Christmas movie’s leading men and I loved him in Killjoys. The movie name nearly made me miss it but already watched it and loved it. Merry Christmas Day 28 - Your Christmas or Mine 2 (2023)Jennifer Says - Last year, Amazon Prime brought us their original Christmas movie Your Christmas or Mine. This Christmas Rom-Com gave us the story of a young couple, James and Hayley. They are heading home when they both decide to surprise the other and go to the other's home for the holidays. They find out things about the other and their family. This is such a funny flick. This year’s sequel finds them in a similar predicament. Can their relationship survive? James is played by Asa Butterfield who I first saw in Merlin but is also in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Hugo, and Sex Education. Hayley is played by Cora Kirk from Prey for the Devil, and After Everything. Also appearing are: David Bradley (from Harry Potter movies, Game of Thrones, and Doctor Who) Jan Kakowski (30 Rock, Ally McBeal, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) Daniel Mays (Bank Job and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) The cast in this does such a good job. She paired with a mentor, Logan for the competition whom she doesn’t get along with. Alicia is played by Tia Mowry from Sister Sister, Twitches movies, and Family Reunion. Logan is portrayed by Luke Humphrey from Chateau Laurier, See and I was Lorena Bobbitt. Alicia’s Former Boss, Bobby is played by a real chef, Buddy Valastro from Kitchen Boss, Cake Boss, and Buddy vs. Christmas. This movie made the list because I love Tia Mowry Christmas Movies. Erin Cahill from Power Rangers Time Force and many Hallmark movies. Jonathan Bennet from Mean Girls, Awkward., and many Hallmark Movies. John Brotherton from Fuller House, The Conjuring, and One Life to Live. Vincent Rodriguez III from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and With Love. This made the list because I am a fan of Good Witch and I like the fact that this has 3 couples at different stages of their lives. Merry Christmas Day 25 - Merry Little Batman (2023)Jennifer Says - Little Damian Wayne thinks he is big enough to start fighting crime. His dad doesn’t agree. Batman is called out by the Justice League on an emergency leaving Damian home alone. Joker and other villains start causing trouble and Little Batman tries to handle the situation on his own. This animated Holiday special stars the voice talents of some familiar faces. Batman/Bruce Wayne is voiced by Luke Wilson, who you may recognize from The Royal Tenenbaums, The Family Stone, and Stargirl. Damian Wayne is voiced by Yonas Kibreab from Sweet Tooth and Pretty Freaking Scary. Portraying Arthur is James Cromwell from Six Feet Under, Succession, and The Green Mile. Joker is played by Bruce Hornsby from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest, and Good Girl. This first caught my attention with the cute name and even cuter trailer. Merry Christmas Day 24 - Yuletide the Knot (2023)Jennifer Says - Wedding planner, Rachel, gets the opportunity that could make her career when she is hired to plan the wedding for two influencers. Then she meets their manager, logan, who happens to be her high school boyfriend. The influencers leave Rachel and Logan alone to plan their wedding. Rachel is played by Mary Antonini, who is from The Christmas Mission and The Breach. Logan is portrayed by Peter Porte. Porte is from Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and Hallmark Movies. This isn’t Porte’s first Christmas movies and he is the reason this movie made my list. That and the clever name and idea that the influencers leaving to let others plan their wedding. Merry Christmas Day 23 - Ladies of the ’80s: A Diva Christmas (2023)Jennifer Says - Five well-known actresses from long-running soap opera, reunite to film the series last Christmas episode. While filming the ladies team up to play matchmaker with their director and producer. The film leads are actually big names from the 80s themselves. Lonie Anderson from WKRP and All Dogs Go to Heaven. Morgan Fairchild from Falcon Crest and her reoccurring role on Friends(as Chandler’s mom). Linda Gray from Dallas (both original and reboot). Donna Mills from Knots Landing and many Lifetime movies. Nicollette Sheridan from Knots Landing and Desperate Housewives. Fairchild, Mills, and Sheridan are not new to Christmas movies. Merry Christmas Day 22 - Candy Cane Lane (2023)Jennifer Says - Chris Carver makes a deal with an elf to win his neighborhood’s decorating contest. He neglects to read the fine print. Then discovers the consequences may be terrible and chaotic for his family and neighborhood. Chris Carver is played by Eddie Murphy from SNL, Coming to America movies, and Trading Places. He teams up with Tracee Ellis Ross as Carol Carver. Ross is from Blackish(and spinoffs) and Girlfriends. There are also other stars: Jillian Bell, Chris Redd, Nick Offerman, Ken Marino, and David Alan Grier. This comedy looks to be a fun family movie for the holidays. This first made the list because of Eddie Murphy. Then after seeing the other stars and synopsis, I knew it was one not to miss. She goes on a tour of Biltmore Mansion and touches an hourglass and gets transported to 1946. Lucy is played by Bethany Joy Lenz, who is not new to holiday movies. She was also in One Tree Hill and Guiding Light. You can also Kristoffer Polaha who is also not new to Christmas movies. He was also in Ringer and Mystery 101. Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek: Next Generation and Picard is also in this holiday flick. This one made the list because of Lenz who is in some of my favorite Christmas movies and I love the whole time travel aspect. The costumes and sets are just gorgeous, too. Her son invites her to come to the chalet where he is spending the holidays with his dad. She ends up working at the chalet because of a mixup with her reservations. Lex is played by Terri Hatcher from Desperate Housewives and Lois and Clark. William Devry also stars in this romantic comedy. Devry is from General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. This movie made my list because of Teri Hatcher. That and love stories with women at different life stages appeal to me. Merry Christmas Day 19 - A Royal Date for Christmas (2023)Jennifer Says - For the last 10+ years, it seems like there is always a Christmas movie with royalty and this year will not be the exception. Bella is a Boutique owner and her customer has lost his luggage during an important week. He asks her to outfit him and be his plus one. What happens when she finds out he is a Duke? Bella is played by Danika McKellar formerly of Hallmark Movies and Wonder Years. She made the move to GAF last year. (Melanie - Quick note for those that may not know - GAF is the Great American Family Channel which used to be Great American Community). Stephen is portrayed by Damon Runyan who was in Gangland Undercover, Home Before Dark, and a handful of Hallmark movies. This movie made the list due to Danika McKellar. She is one of my favorite Christmas movie actresses. You can find it on GAF and was released the day after Thanksgiving. Streaming Availability - - This is a "Great American Family" movie and can be streamed with the channel. Check your cable/streaming services to see if it is available. Merry Christmas Day 18 - Haul out the Holly: Lit Up (2023)Jennifer Says - In last year’s Haul Out the Holly, Emily goes home to visit her parents but ends up involved in her neighborhood’s crazy festivities. She also is forced to spend time with her ex, Jarod. Now in this year’s sequel, they are looking forward to spending the holidays together again. Then a new family moves to the neighborhood and disrupts the normal holiday events into even more chaos. This cute movie series has a lot of familiar faces but it is led by Hallmark royalty Lacey Chabert from Party of Five and Mean Girls as Emily. Jarod is played by Wes Brown and is from other Hallmark Movies, True Blood and Deception. You may also recognize Melissa Peterman, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Ellen Travolta. Graham is portrayed by William Moseley who you may recognize him from The Royals or the Chronicles of Narnia Movies. The stranger is played by Sarah Ramos who was also in Parenthood, and Midnight, Texas. This looks like a sweet romantic movie that highlights the many differences between life in UK and America. Melissa McCarthy will make a fun and delightful genie. You may know McCarthy from Mike & Molly, Bridesmaids or the new live action Little Mermaid. Bernard is played by Paapa Essiedu who is also from I May Destroy, You Gangs of London and Men. Alan Cumming and Luis Guzman also appear in this fun flick. From the trailer this looks like it will be a delightful warm hearted movie. It made my list because of the fun Melissa McCarthy and reminds me of Elf in the way that McCarthy is totally lost in today's world after being stuck in a box for centuries. Merry Christmas Day 15 - The Velveteen Rabbit (2023)Jennifer Says - The Velveteen Rabbit is based on the classic book by Margery Williams. William receives a toy rabbit for Christmas, he makes a forever friend and unlocks a world of magic. The rabbit questions what makes something real. This movie is part animated and part live-action. It includes the voice talents of Helena Bonham Carter from Harry Potter Movies, Fight Club and so many Tim Burton movies. It also stars Alex Lawther from End of the F***ing World and Andor. This made the list because it was a favorite story as a kid. I think the story appeals to all ages because we all remember those favorite toys and using our imagination. Merry Christmas Day 14 - My Christmas Hero (2023)Jennifer Says - Nicole helps military service members and their families. This Christmas with the help of many heroes she will honor a fallen soldier by helping his family. This movie stars Candace Cameron Bure as Nicole Ramsey. Besides being the Christmas Movie Queen, she was on Full House and Fuller House. Last year she made the move from Hallmark to GAF. (Melanie - Quick note for those that may not know - GAF is the Great American Family Channel which used to be Great American Community). Captain Ross is played by Gabriel Hogan from Hallmark Murder She Baked movies, and Condor. Robin Dunn (from Sanctuary and Just Friends)is Captain Mark Jennings. Aaron Douglas portrays Joseph Murray. Douglas is known for his roles in Battlestar Galactica and The Killing. At the time of my writing this, there is very little info on this movie other than the cast and brief description. It was originally scheduled to be released for Christmas in July but I guess it didn’t make it. Instead, GAF released it on November 22, 2023. Streaming Availability - This is a "Great American Family" movie and can be streamed with the channel. Check your cable/streaming services to see if it is available. Merry Christmas Day 13 - The Naughty Nine (2023)Jennifer Says - Andy and other naughty kids join forces to go to Santa’s Village and pull a heist to get the gifts they think they deserve. Andy is played by Winslow Fegley who was in Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and Nightbooks. Danny Glover is Santa but you of course recognize him from the Lethal Weapon Movies. I wonder if Santa is too old for this sh… er, um, I mean these shenanigans. Merry Christmas Day 12 - Everything Christmas (2023)Jennifer Says - Christmas enthusiast LJ and workaholic Tori go on a road trip to a Christmassy destination. Where they run into Chris and magical things happen around him. LJ is played by Cindy Busby who you may know from Cedar Grove and many Hallmark movies, Tori is portrayed by Katherine Barrell who was in Wynonna Earp and the Good Witch. It also stars Corey Sevier who has been in a ton of Christmas movies. This movie made the list after noticing that Sevier and Busby were in it. I also like movies with Christmas magic. This one is so cute. IMDB gave it 6.5/10 stars. Streaming Availability - You can find this on the Hallmark Channel - Check your local listings for next airing. Merry Christmas Day 11 - A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023)Jennifer Says - Follows estranged siblings Lindsay and Brad as they travel to Scotland at Christmas to reunite with their mother. Lindsay is played by Hallmark movie darling Lacey Chabert who is also known for Mean Girls. Like her character, Lacey is reunited with her Party of Five costar and brother, Scott Wolfe. Scott is also known from Everwood and Nancy Drew. I was excited about this one because of the Scottish locale and the pairing of Chabert and Wolfe. Merry Christmas Day 10 - Dashing Through The Snow (2023)Jennifer Says - A divorced dad, who hates Christmas, must bring his daughter and a stranger (claiming to be Santa) with him on Christmas Eve when he is called into work. They are chased by bad guys who want the stranger's property. During this crazy trip, Santa helps the father discover the joy and magic of Christmas. The dad, Eddie is played by Ludacris. Besides being a rapper he is known for his roles in the Fast and Furious movies. Santa is portrayed by Lil Rel Howery from The Charmichael Show and Get Out. There are a whole lot of other familiar faces as well. This one just sounds like a fun family flick with heart. Streaming Availability - Available to steam with a Disney+ subscription. You try to get your parents to ask her to leave and bet your ex you can succeed before Christmas. This comedy stars Leighton Meester who is known for Gossip Girl and Single Parents and Robbie Amell from Tomorrow People and Upload. (2023)Jennifer Says - n this Netflix original, Jackie sends her college friend, Charlotte, an annual Christmas letter that brags about her perfect life. Charlotte and her family end up near Jackie’s home so they drop in shortly before Christmas and wants to prove her letter to be false but her attempt could ruin everything for everyone. This movie has an all-star cast: Heather Graham (Boogie Nights and Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) as Charlotte, Brandy Norwood (Moesha, Cinderella) as Jackie, Jason Biggs as (American Pie movies, Orange is the New Black) and Matt Cedeño (Power, Z Nation, and Ruthless). The cast is the first thing that grabbed my attention about this movie. That and the storyline sounded funny. Streaming Availability - Available with a Netflix subscription. Have you seen it?
