Round 3 of my 31 Days of Horror. Getting a little bit harder to find some hidden gems and not repeat myself. Next year may take a little twist or a new direction. This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Last House on the Left (2009) Dave Says -Another one that could have gone on the remake list. Revenge 101. I guess the first rule is make sure your victim is dead. If they aren’t, that leads to rule #2. don’t hide in her house. Jenn Says -I don’t usually like horrors, but this movie can get more suspenseful than horror but still is considered horror. I know-- weird, right. "The Last House on the Left" is basically -- a girl is taken with her friend and left for dead, not dead though. But leaving the scene, the killers get stuck in a storm and end up sheltering with a family, not knowing this is their victim's parents. Well, let’s just say when the daughter gets home hurt, then all hell will break loose and not in a good way. Melanie Says - If you are going to do bad things to people you really need to kill them - or suffer the consequences and that's EXACTLY what happens in this. Karma has a way of making things interesting and that's exactly what happens here. Aaron Paul is excellent in this. In my opinion it's worth watching for him alone! Have you seen it? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. The Game (1997) Dave Says -Michael Douglas, Sean Penn. This became one of the most recommended movies I'd give when I worked in a video store and everyone loved it. Now, it's a little (or a lot) against the rules here. It's more suspense than horror but I love it so much I had to give it a slight nod here. Melanie Says - This is 100% suspense but sometimes they make the best scary movies. Love this one! This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Swimfan (2002) Dave Says -The school's star swimmer has a stalker. An evil, conniving one at that. Watch out, you could be doing a dead man's float. Melanie Says - Definitely in the thriller category I actually really like this one. Reminds me a bit of movies like Crush, or Jennifer's Body. Classic! Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. House of Wax (2005) Dave Says -Remake of the 1953 Vincent Price film. Stranded, these people entertain themselves with a wax museum exhibit. What can go wrong? Jenn Says -I remember seeing parts of "House of Wax" and thinking "why am I watching this?". Talk about those people doing stupid stuff and you yelling at the screen "why?". This is your classic horror movie I think where the jumps and scares are definitely unlimited, it makes you think-- should I ever go into a wax museum again? Melanie Says -Chock full of famous people that you are bound to recognize this remake isn't really bad. For me though no wax figure movie will ever beat WaxWork lol Have you seen it? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. The Number 23 (2007) Dave Says -I'm not a big Jim Carrey fan but this is not your average Jim Carrey flick. He sees similarities between a novel he is reading and his own life as he unwraps the layers. Melanie Says - Definitely an interesting one. Not the sort of role Jim Carrey normally plays but he pulls it off. This skews more supernatural thriller than horror, and it's a very clever premise! Have you seen it? What did you think? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Open Graves (2009) Dave Says -Eliza Dushku. A board game takes a life each time it is played. Yeah, so keep on playing it. Melanie Says - I haven't seen this but now I am going to look it up. I do love a bad board game where people die. Also it has Mike Vogel in it who was fab in The Brave so props for that one too. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Cheerleader Camp (1988) Dave Says -Betsy Russell leads this cast as a serial killer shows up a summer camp for cheerleaders. Also starring Leif Garrett, the singer. HUH? I don't know why. But he's in there. Melanie Says - lol Dave - Leif was a child actor before a singer so it wasn't as surprising as you would think. Another 80's cheesy winner! Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Dark Ride (2006) Dave Says -Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler headlines this story as 6 friends stop by an amusement park called Dark Ride. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Do you know you are in a horror movie? Well, you do now! Of course, a killer escaped a mental intuition and is hiding out there. Good luck! Melanie Says - I am always a fan of making scary rides ACTUALLY scary. Of course in the movies that always involves some deranged killer but hey it IS a horror movie after all lol. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Ghost Story (1981) Dave Says -Fred Astaire. John Houseman. Melvyn Douglas. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Huge names in Hollywood History! All gathered here to bring you a haunting tale. Literally. These men are being haunted by the spirit of a woman and they must uncover her story. Melanie Says - Although this is technically an 80's movie it always feels more vintage than that. A movie that definitely relies more on the story than the scares. Based on a book by the same name I recommend it. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Zombies of Mass Destruction (2009) Dave Says -All is quiet in a quaint little town until a pesky zombie virus causes an outbreak. Don't you hate it when that happens? Melanie Says - So yesterday's was a favorite - this one is not. It definitely falls more into the role of comedy horror, just not the kind of comedy that works for me. More like "Scary Movie" comedy meets a funny version of The Purge. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Witchboard (1986) Dave Says -There are rules to operating a Ouija board. If you ignore them or mock them, you will pay the price. A few people in this movie prove that quite well. Melanie Says - Ooooh Witchboard is one of my all time favorites! Definitely hits near the top of my list. so much so that my cosplay is actually one of the pictures I used for the convention. For newer Musers I included my original forgotten feature Friday about it that I had on YouTube and if you haven't watched it yet it is streaming free in a bunch of places so check it out! This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Slumber Party Massacre (1982) Dave Says -The Driller Killer escapes. I guess the guards didn't think they should keep a closer eye on someone named The Driller Killer! So, he must stop by a slumber party and crash it! Its in the rules! Melanie Says - I think this season is becoming the 80's slasher movie season - not that I am complaining. 80's slashers are always worth the laugh and you pretty much always know what you are gonna get! This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Girls Gone Dead (2012) Dave Says -Spring break from college and killer on the loose! Didn't I see this movie before? Scream queen Linnea Quigley stars, along with Jerry "the King" Lawler (huh?), and Nicko Mcbrain from Iron Maiden! (Double huh?). Funny thing about Nicko's cameo. It was originally written as something completely different but trouble with the location has them using the footage they had (him singing karaoke style) a different way and is hilarious! Could be worth the price of admission alone! Some killer humor but not for the faint at heart. Its Rated R for a reason and there is an unrated version. Consider yourself warned. Melanie Says - OMG this looks so absolutely terrible I now feel the need to find and watch this. It's like the Slaxx moviee all over again! (If you missed that one last year click HERE for the info - it was DEFINITELY my fav new to me on lmao). Yup Unrated version hunting here I come! Have you seen it? What did you think? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Hell Night (1981) Dave Says -Linda Blair. One of the movies you couldn't do today unless you throw in a "no cell phones" rule. Locked in a house, no way out, killer trapped inside with them. Easy pickings. Melanie Says - Ugh those damn cell phones ruin so many movie plots now. They would have to come up with a reason for no cell phones BUT that is also why I love 80's movies. Totally cheesy - but so much slasher fun! Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Ready or Not (2019) Dave Says -Marrying into a family is a big move. Its best to know as much as you can beforehand. For instance, you should know if they have a ritual of hunting the bride at some point to try to kill her. I would think that’s a big dealbreaker for most girls. Jenn Says -"Ready or Not", now whatever could this be about with a title like that. Well, you might just have to watch and find out but what I can say is that if you think you probably shouldn’t be with someone or marrying them because maybe they seem a bit off, and so does their family, then maybe you should definitely go with your instincts and get the hell out of there. Melanie Says -This is probably one of my favorites on the list this year. It completely ignored most of the general horror movie tropes and went in a unique direction that just worked leaving it feeling like a fresh new take on the genre. Just when you think you've figured it out they switch it up. If you haven't seen it then I highly recommend it. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it?

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. The Fog (1980/2005) Dave Says -I'll list both here. The John Carpenter classic with Jamie Lee Curtis and Vivian Leigh, and the remake with Tom Welling and Selma Blair. A fog is rolling into town. But that’s not all that the fog holds. Melanie Says - Hmmm I think I saw the original but not the remake. Not sure if I will check the remake out - I didn't love the original. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. When a Stranger Calls (2006) Dave Says -This remake/not-a-remake centers on a babysitter getting threatened by an anonymous caller. I struggle to call this a remake since I saw the original also. This stretches out the phone call part and amplifies it each time. The original was a few calls, which is the most remembered part of it, and moved on to other things later on. This one stays in the house and other things come into play there. Melanie Says - I agree that this isn't really a remake. Other than sharing the name and a very basic premise this is pretty much a thriller in its own right. Over all not bad for a jump scare thriller - if you are someone who likes jump scare things versus the more gory horror options. Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Years later, those involved are invited to a special mini-reunion for payback Melanie Says - Everything you want from a cheesy 80's move right here! I think they literally manage to pile ALL the tropes in there and it's fabulous lol Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below! This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Tragedy Girls (2017) Dave Says -Teenage girls blog about a serial killer while killing people. Not suspicious at all. Melanie Says - Oh I love this movie. It's got sort of a Heathers vibe to it and made me laugh! Definitely for people who like their horror with a large dose of dry humor! A photographer’s obsession has him cross paths with a dangerous serial killer. Melanie Says - I saw the name and read the description and thought for sure that I had seen this, but now watching the trailer I don't think I have. Will have to ask Greg - He'll know if we've seen it and if not it will go on the to watch list! Hey Maybe I can put my name on the wheel lol Have you seen it? What did you think? This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Frozen (2010) Dave Says -No, this is not the story of Elsa and Anna. Adam Green wrote this one. Three skiers are stranded on a chairlift with the temperatures dropping below freezing. Nowhere to go but down and that isn't safe either. Decisions have to be made. Melanie Says - Hmmmm this sounds a bit too close to stuff that could really happen - which is definitely not my thing. Think I will have to pass on this! (Although I did too wonder at why a Disney movie made the horror list lol) Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Seconds Apart (2011) Dave Says -Twin brothers with telekinetic powers and a vendetta. Their classmates start to die one at a time. Hmmm, I wonder why? Melanie Says - Ooooh I have never seen this one but having watched the trailer I really want to now. Definitely looks like my type of movie! (If I can find it lol) Have you seen it? Nightbreed (1990) Dave Says -This is a little more of a stretch for my list. Its more well known than most of the others. Dreaming of a place called Midian, a man soon finds it is real and is a hideout for creatures who want to get away from human cruelty. Melanie Says - Ooooh Clive Baker (probably best known for Hellraiser) is definitely more on the mainstream list BUT I still think this is one of his lesser known entries. I'll allow it lol Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Village of the Damned (1995) Dave Says -Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley, Mark Hamill are in this remake of the 1960 classic. During an unnatural phenomenon where everyone in town faints, the women all seem to wake up impregnated. After 9 months when the babies are born, with their supernatural acts we know they are not human. Melanie Says - A John Carpenter classic (remake of the 1960's movie) with a few big names in the cast as Dave mentioned. Creepy kids are always a winner for me and this is no different. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it! Have you seen it? What did you think? Will you be watching it? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

This year’s list has a few surprises too. But you'll see what they are when you check back every day. Puppet Master (1989) Dave Says -The little movie that could. This has kinda become a cult classic without getting huge. Maybe call it an "underground cult classic"? I guess it gathered enough of a following to spawn quite a few sequels. I actually lost count of how many there are. Anyway, all you need to know is that puppets kill people! Doesn't that sound like a cheesy kind of fun? Melanie Says - The first one was definitely the best. I loved that back in the day. Super fun effects although maybe some not for the faint of heart lol Have you seen it? What did you think?
