Melanie - Founder of Melanie's Muses - You should know who I am lol If not click - All about Melanie!Bitten. OK Let me get this out the way, because JUST like when it aired and Greg made lots of comments, YES this is a series about wolves and yes I watched, and for the most part enjoyed it. Now let's back track a little and throw in some context. The TV show is based off a book series I read. I originally picked up book 3 in this series - Dime Store Magic - read it and enjoyed it - and then found out there were two books before it and it all starts with a damn wolf. I will say that I watched the show because book Clay is dark, unapologetic sociopath who happens to be a wolf. TV show Clay ... well not so much.. but the show is still definitely worth watching! Unlike the books, all 3 series of the TV show stick with Elena's story which made sense, although if the books had gone that way I probably would never have picked up the series, but sometimes things just work out. Kelley Armstrong has written a lot of books that I have read and enjoyed and there is even one in the giveaway! Jenn - Jennifer Rhodes met Melanie back when True Blood was popular and they have been friends ever since. She loves TV (especially things that make you smile), Doctor Who, Finding new shows, and regularly provides awesome fandom items for Muser Giveaways. Jennifer is now a proud member of the VIPers - the Melanie's Muses Spotlight Feature Team! This werewolf series is an old one and it’s even Mels approved and she doesn’t like wolves so you know it’s a must watch and that show is Bitten. The series basically follows Elena as she has to head home to her pack after being called home by there alpha when a string of weird murders hits there town, and since she’s there best tracker they definitely need her to come home, though she wants nothing to do with the pack after everything that went down. She’s also the only female in any pack, why is that? I’m not sure, well I am but no spoilers! You just need too watch if you’ve never checked out this amazing series, like I said it’s even Mels approved and there’s wolves! (Which is so rare I had to mention it twice). The Pineapple Code Word For This Article Is Clay And Now For The Giveaway Melanie's Muses will be giving away the complete Bitten Season 1 DVD set from Jenn and a hardback copy of book 1 in Kelley Armstrong's Cainsville series from the Melanie's Muses Prize hoard. Måneskin - Off My FaceMe and Mel love love love a bit of Måneskin, and their new album is brilliant! I already had my fave song from the album, Honey are you Comimg? on previously so this is another boppy track. If you haven't listened to Måneskin before then you really need to!!
Passenger ft Ed Sheeran - Let Her GoI remember going to see a relatively unknown ginger haired singer, and we were treated to a singer called Passenger who opened for Ed. I loved Passenger's set, so I went and listened to anything I could find from him. This anniversary edition with Passenger and Ed together is sublime My fave song from Passenger is Wrong Direction so go and have a listen to that too!
Noah Kahan ft Hozier- Northern AttitudeI have never heard of Noah Kahan before, but having heard his vocals I know I'll be checking out more of his stuff. The vocals paired with Hoziers is just perfect!
David Guetta & Kim Petras - When We Were Young (The Logical Song)Scooter The logical Song is one of my favorite get your ass in the dancefloor tracks and usually I hate remakes but this isn't that bad and you can tell they wanted to pay homage to the original and I am hear for it!
Dermot Kennedy - Two HeartsAh, Dermo...you can never do a bad song and I'm loving all the new releases he's been doing lately.
VUKOVI - MERCY KILLVukovi is Scottish band I've been a fan of for a while now, and the lead singer has a very unique sounding tone, probably from the Scottish accent.
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - BramblesThe videos a little weird, and it's essentially Frank having a boogie in the woods...its like some stoner dream he's having and as weird as it is, I kinda love it.
R U Init ft Noisy - Original SoundThe moment that I heard this song, I immediately thought of the Prodigy's No Good. It has the qualities of a great nineties floor-filler. I like Noisy, and the uniqueness of the main singers voice just adds to the track.
Bryn Christopher & Gabrielle Aplin - Somebody That I Used To KnowI love a good cover version, especially when it takes the original song and flips it on its head. This version is great and dancy, and gets ya moving!
boygenius, Ye Vagabonds - The Parting GlassThis is one of my favorite songs of all time, so much so that I even have Jack from Sanguine Crown singing it in my Christmas anthology, A Lot Like Christmas. This version features on a tribute to the late Sinéad O'Connor and its amazing...
Throwback Track
As I mentioned it above, I felt like this was a great track to have as my throwback for this week.

Melanie - Founder of Melanie's Muses - You should know who I am lol If not click - All about Melanie!
Oh Romeo and Juliet, the greatest love story ever told, or the subject of intense ridicule and bitching about wayward teenagers. Whichever side of the line you happen to stand on, one thing is for sure, I am willing to bet you at least know the basic story.
Ignoring the fact that they are teenagers (because people need to remember the time when this was written), this is, in my opinion, one of the best written tragic love stories out there. I have watched many of the movie versions, read many book interpretations (including one with vampires), I own the pops, the soundtrack to the 1996 movie, and many, many other references.
It seems my favorites though are those that interpret the original material a little differently. In movies, this translates as Baz Luhrman's 1996 movie version with the original Shakespearean dialogue set in a modern day Verona and packed with fabulous musical numbers making the soundtrack a must listen (in my opinion). Packed full of stars too numerous to go into I will just say that Harold Perrineau's of Mercutio was so good I felt the need to include a bonus clip of his performance at the party. (And the Spotify Playlist)
Moving to books, and we have the Defy the Stars series by Susan Harris. When I first read book one I described it as the "Magical Reimagining I Didn't Know I Needed". And that remains true to this day. Her tagline - if you think you know how this story ends ... you're wrong, couldn't be more apt with the main series being a trilogy and then there is a follow up novella too. I have enclosed the link to the first eBook as it is free and if you haven't read it - YOU SHOULD. Even if you have no interest in the Romeo and Juliet storyline - this adventure takes you so far out that fans or haters can both enjoy a fabulous fantasy series.
So which side are you on? A great romance, or stupid teens? Not that your opinion will change mine in the slightest ..... because Shakespeare will always win.

Musers beware you’re in for a scare. These aren’t actually the right words, but if you know the show/book series I’m about to talk about then you know the actual words. “Goosebumps” has been around since the 90s and was one of my favorite book series growing up. They even were in my elementary school library, as well as you could buy them at the book fairs we had.
Disney plus even made a new series based on these books which is also on Hulu. There’s also an original show that follows them that came out in the late 90s as well quickly becoming a staple for alot of 90s kids childhood. So growing up with these originals I was a little skeptical about this new series. Though hearing it’s RL Stine approved I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m glad I did, yes it’s different as this one follows a storyline and the original show and books were just one story line each episode unless it had a part two, which some did.
These stories basically got children into horror, though honestly it’s more like horror comedy. You could say its a gateway to horror. Start out lighthearted, then let them watch scarier stuff. Ease them into it. Each story follows a different kid overcoming something like take one of my favorites for instance. “Welcome to Horrorland”. Its basically a family that goes into a haunted amusement park. Can they survive and leave the park? Well I don’t know. A lot of them have a twist ending. Some you could see coming, some you may not.
If you’ve never read or seen “Goosebumps” I highly suggest you fix that, especially as the new series is still on going.

Each week, I'll be giving you my two cents on the songs I think you should be listening to each week!
Green Day - Look Ma, No BrainsGreen Day never disappoint when they release an album, and I've been moshing in my car to this the past week!
Pendulum & Scarlxrd - Mercy KillingIf you like drum and bass, Pendulum is always a good group to go to. I haven't heard of Scarlxrd before but the gravely vocals totally work with the tone of the song.
Normandie - RitualNormandie are a Swedish band that are described as Nordic metal, but they lean more toward indie rock to me. The vocalist has a great voice and the songs are always good...defo worth a listen.
Olivia Rodrigo - Can't Catch Me NowThe music from any of The Hunger Games has always been fantastic, so I'm looking forward to more songs releasing. I've not been a fan of the kind of songs that Olivia brings out, but I really liked this.
Theo Bleak - I Look Like A Fool To YouTheo Bleak is a new to me singer, but I fell in love with this song and it's perfect for a scene I'm working on for Take the Lead, Rebel Books book 3. She has a unique voice and I look forward to listening to her back catalogue.
Romy -LifetimeHeard this song on an episode of the BBC show, Time (which is excellent this season and has some amazing actresses including Jodie Whittaker) and it's defo a boppy, floor filler.
Zara Larsson & David Guetta - On My LoveThis is a song I heard on Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend and added it to the Take the Lead Playlist. Sorcha is a character who loves to hit the dancefloor and this would defo be a song to get Sorcha moving.

Firefly - unless you have been living under a rock since 2002 I imagine you are at least vaguely aware that it exists. If nothing else you will see it consistently posted on "Shows Cancelled Too Soon" lists.
Firefly was the brainchild of Joss Whedon, and yes as annoying as he can be, this was actually brilliant. So many things went wrong along the way with the network decisions, it is my firm belief that Fox intended this to be cancelled from day 1, for whatever reason. They aired the episodes out of order (which they actually did with another cancelled too soon show - Almost Human - that made the story almost impossible to follow due to the screwed up character development with episodes all over the place), and they only ever aired 11 of the 14 stopping it when they cancelled it. (The full 14 aired in the UK but I am not sure if they aired in the right order). As an example of how insane this was - Fox aired the PILOT as the final episode. I mean seriously - if that wasn't a point that they never planned to keep it I don't know what is.
The show was packed with famous people but probably best known now for Nathan Fillian's role as Captain Mal Reynolds. For those that watch Castle there were several references to his "Space Cowboy" role throughout most notably when he went as that character for a Halloween episode. Other people that had smaller roles include the likes of Mark Shepard (who honestly has pretty much had a role in ALL the great sci fi shows - and yes, if you watch the trailer below I picked that version because he is in it), and even a very young Zac Effron. Summer Glau was spotted in an episode of Angel (also by Joss Whedon) and was then cast in this, and is another face I am sure you would recognize.
Following it's cancellation Fans (we call ourselves Browncoats) took to campaigning for it to be picked up again and shockingly, against all odds, they did get a brief reprise for a movie that actually aired in movie theaters. This may or may not have been the best plan as it definitely did not hit the great numbers they were hoping for, something I think may have been better as a made for TV option. That being said it was a very expensive production - that I like to pretend doesn't exist other than for mentions in articles like this when I am talking about it. I NEVER rewatch it (although I do own the DVD), and if I get my way I probably never will.
Instead I will sit and pretend that it ended with Episode 14 - the original final episode planned but never aired by Fox. Hey at least they are on the DVDs!
To finish here are a few fun facts (well that amuse me).
There is a lot of swearing in the show but the censors never caught it because it is all in Chinese. Something I don't think they would get away with today. As the idea was this was set in a future where the US and China were the world Alliance it makes sense.
The ship the Serenity inside was actually built to scale and used. In the Serenity sequel you can actually see a continuous shot - it is pretty impressive.
The cast became close and often guest appear in other shows together (although the best ones are where they make Firefly references obviously). They also used to hang out on the lounge set of the ship between takes rather than going to the Green room or their trailers.
The theme song (which I have included as an extra video) was actually written by Joss Whedon and on some of the DVD extras you can hear a recording of it done by him as he had finished the song before the show was greenlit.
And finally, there are LOTS of references to other huge Sci Fi shows and movies of the time that pop up during the show. I won't list all the ones I know but if you do decide to watch - keep your eyes open.

Do you remember we used to feature music quite regularly? Well we are bringing it back - and that would be the "Royal We" as itis in fact ALLLLL Susan! Every week she will be sharing what's new, what we should be checking out, and then it would be a feature here without a little throwback. So sit back - and get ready to jam .... and be sure to let is know what you think!
Susan - Susan Harris is a writer from Cork, Ireland and when she’s not torturing her readers with heart-wrenching plot twists or killer cliffhangers, she’s probably getting some new book related ink, binging her latest TV or music obsession, or with her nose in a book. She is a proud founding Member of the Muser VIPers and is responsible for Melanie not breaking the Website on an almost daily basis!
You can check out all her books on Amazon HERE
Each week, I'll be giving you my two cents on the songs I think you should be listening to each week!
It's slim pickings this week I'm afraid folks, here's hoping for a better week of releases next week!
Green Day - The American Dream is Killing MeWhat a tune! This is the kind of rebellious FU kind of song that we know and love from Green Day! It's the kind of anthem that thousands of fans will enjoy singing back to the band in stadiums all around the world.
Chelsea Wolfe - Whispers in the Echo ChamberI've always loved Chelsea's voice, it's so haunting, and this video is epically gothic. It could be used in a TV show or a movie!
Everything Everything - Cold ReactorWhen I saw Everything Everything live, they were wearing similar outfits to this video LOL except it was boiler suits!! Everything Everything is a band you should check out if you like unique voices and quirky melodies.
Zayde Wolfe, EDVN, & Sam Tinneaz - ManiacIf you've taken the time to listen to any of my writing playlists, then you already know that both Zayde Wolfe and Sam Tinneaz featured on a of them. EDVN is a new to me artist but I will definity be checking out others songs from him.
Throwback Track
If the DJ played this then you knew your night was gonna be epic LOL

Jenn - Jennifer Rhodes met Melanie back when True Blood was popular and they have been friends ever since. She loves TV (especially things that make you smile), Doctor Who, Finding new shows, and regularly provides awesome fandom items for Muser Giveaways. Jennifer is now a proud member of the VIPers - the Melanie's Muses Spotlight Feature Team!
Do I have a thing for bad guys? Maybe. But don’t we all? But this one Marvel character is a favorite and a main character in a Disney+ series. And that is “Loki”.
This series picks up where his appearance in “Endgame” left off. But this trickster ends up at the TVA where all the timelines are studied. So will he do good there or will he end up destroying it? I love Loki In every single thing he is in and that includes all the Avengers movies but this series highlights just him and it even brings everything in the multiverse to life. What do I mean by that? Sorry can’t go into more details because spoilers, but if you love Loki just as much as I do or maybe even just like them a little then you definitely should check this out.
I mean giving Loki has his own show, thinking how he is you know he’d love that, and you’ll probably be surprised along the way, that’s always a good thing with Marvel.

As Marvel things go I don't mind Loki, although I will say I preferred the Falcon and Winter Soldier series ..... so for those that missed it 2 years ago .... here is my LOKI / Legends of Tomorrow comparison.
Loki is currently steaming on Disney+
