Remakes were always a thing, even going back to the early days of movies. They’d remake a silent movie when talkies came out, etc. But the further we go, the more they remake. In todays world DVDs, Blu Rays, and five billion streaming channels, we feel there is less and less need for them. Most of them are pretty easy to find if you are interested in watching them. But Hollywood insists on rebranding and making a new version, trying to improve upon the original. “Psycho”? You can’t improve it. You can’t change it. You made the same movie again. Why? They are useless. Occasionally they get it right. Not all of these are winners though. Its a mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some just out of the box. Day 6 - Evil Dead - 1981 / 2013 - Dave One of the remakes that kinda got it right. Not bad. A little updated but overall good movie. Weird thing though. I was watching the original one before going to see the remake in the theaters and the tv shut itself off. Hmmm. Weird. I turn it back on, it turns off again. Hmmm. I turn it back on and it shuts off again. At this point, most people would say fuck it and leave the room. Not me. I’m dumb enough to turn it back on. At least it stayed on this time. Melanie says - I watched the original, and I watched the new one and they are both comparable. The Army of Darkness was always my favorite as it has more comedy involved but I think they did this one right! Have you seen it? What did you think? Original, Remake, or Neither?
