Remakes were always a thing, even going back to the early days of movies. They’d remake a silent movie when talkies came out, etc. But the further we go, the more they remake. In todays world DVDs, Blu Rays, and five billion streaming channels, we feel there is less and less need for them. Most of them are pretty easy to find if you are interested in watching them. But Hollywood insists on rebranding and making a new version, trying to improve upon the original. “Psycho”? You can’t improve it. You can’t change it. You made the same movie again. Why? They are useless. Occasionally they get it right. Not all of these are winners though. Its a mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some just out of the box. Day 31- Total Recall (1990) / (2012) - Dave The producers watched the old movie and decided that the essence of "Total Recall" was a hooker with 3 breasts and kept that part. Seriously? Was that the only part they could recall? RECALL! Get it? (crickets) OK, may not. Moving on. Just about everything else went out the window. That's what happens when you recast Arnold Schwarzenegger with Colin Farrell. Melanie Says - Excuse me while I sit over here laughing at this whole concept. Total Recall was a classic! Even if you updated it to be "Basically the same" - the dated cringy effects are part of what makes this so much fun to go back and rewatch! And I'm sorry - I love Colin Farrell in MANY things - but as a replacement for Arnie in this - JUST NOOOOOO!!!!!! I didn't even bother past the trailer, it was just a ridiculous idea! Have you seen it? What did you think? Original, Remake, or Neither? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
