Remakes were always a thing, even going back to the early days of movies. They’d remake a silent movie when talkies came out, etc. But the further we go, the more they remake. In todays world DVDs, Blu Rays, and five billion streaming channels, we feel there is less and less need for them. Most of them are pretty easy to find if you are interested in watching them. But Hollywood insists on rebranding and making a new version, trying to improve upon the original. “Psycho”? You can’t improve it. You can’t change it. You made the same movie again. Why? They are useless. Occasionally they get it right. Not all of these are winners though. Its a mixed bag. Some good, some bad, some just out of the box. Day 25 - Poltergeist - (1982) / (2015) - Dave Another classic they tried to redo and caught themselves in a bind. Carol Anne’s classic “they’re heeeere” can not be tampered with and can not be duplicated. If they try to copy it, they’ll never hear the end of it. So they went with a simple “they’re here” and it just comes up flat. The scene seems to lose something but its just “damned if you do, and damned if you don't” type of thing. Overall, it wasn't bad but like most of these you have to ask yourself if it was really necessary. Melanie Says - The original movie is so full of superstition and talk of the franchise being cursed, that I don't think any remake would ever be able to shadow it. That being said I can't remember if I have seen the remake or not. I thought I had, and then I watched the trailer, and now I am not sure. I'll have to ask Greg lol. Have you seen it? What did you think? Original, Remake, or Neither? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
