Melanie - Founder of Melanie's Muses - You should know who I am lol If not click - All about Melanie! You can't really go wrong if you are looking to watch a version of Fright Night. The 80's version is an absolute classic that Greg and I throw lines from on a fairly regular basis. OK 2 lines - "You're So Cool Brewster", and "You Have To Have Faith". But today I am going to switch gears and talk about that evil R word - the remake! Fright Night is one of those very few movies that ACTUALLY did the remake RIGHT! I will admit - having David Tennant prancing about in leather, dressed as a Cris Angel wannabe DID mean that I was at least going to watch it for that, although we generally do TRY and give remakes a chance, even if only so that we can slate it with properly reasoned arguments. That being said this was actually a really GOOD remake. There were GOOD changes made but you could clearly see references to the original (such ad the apple). They updated to make it more relevant, which almost 20 years later was needed, whilst still playing a good homage to the original. They even had a cameo from Chris Saranden himself although you would REALLY need to know the original to catch it! This movie is proof that a remake CAN be worth it. My ONLY real complaint? In the original there is this fabulous night club scene with Amy and Jerry which the remake totally skimped on. They had them in a bar/club situation, there were other people dancing, and this is SUCH an iconic scene to me that I would have loved to have seen what Colin Farrell would have done with it. Trailers to both versions - the 1985 original and the 2011 remake (and a bonus clip of David Tennant as he is NOT in the official trailer). There are sequels to both movies - both called "Fright Night Part 2". The sequel to the 1985 version IS an actual sequel - the part 2 for the 2011 version - almost seems to be a new remake again with no real connection to anything - so just skip that lol.
