Standalone or series? Book 15 in the Guild Hunter Series (You DO need to have read the previous ones) Category Paranormal and Urban Fantasy Official Blurb About The Book (From the Amazon Page) New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us into the dangerous, haunting world of archangels . . . and a love that is legend. For thousands of years, the passion between Alexander, Archangel of Persia, and Zanaya, Queen of the Nile, burned furious and bright, seemingly without end. But to be an archangel is to be bound to power violent and demanding. Driven by its primal energy, Alexander and Zanaya fought as fiercely as they loved, locked in an endless cycle of devotion and heartbreak. It is only Zanaya’s decision to Sleep that ends their love story. Eons later, the Cascade of Death wakens them both. The passion between them a flame that yet burns, Alexander and Zanaya stand together in one last battle against the ultimate darkness. But even a warrior archangel cannot win every war. Alexander’s scream shatters the world as Zanaya falls, broken and silent . . . only to rise again in a miracle that may be a devastating curse. For is it truly the Queen of the Nile who has been resurrected? Only one thing is clear: This is the last beat of their passionate, angry dance. The final song for Alexander and his Zani . . . How did I get this book? Melanie knew I was a big fan of Nalini's books, so she managed to get me an ARC copy, since my paperback will be arriving in Ireland on Thursday and I will not be back home until December! Why did I choose to read this book: I'm a huge fan of Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter Series and her Psy/Changeling books too! And Now To The Review! First Impressions: It took me a little time to get stuck into the book, not because it wasn't good, but because Archangel Alexander wasn't a character that I had previously wanted to get to know more outside of what we saw in previous Guild Hunter Novels. You get a lot of history, which I loved seeing from the older members of the Cadre. General Review Despite my slow introduction to Alexander and Zanaya's turbulent romance that spans eons and eons, I was soon emersed in a world that I love and getting to know the two characters who were both as unrelenting and sometimes stubborn to their own determent. The love and passion between the two Archangels was combustible from the very first eye contact. But while their love was evident, this book shows that sometimes, love isn't enough, and while they always managed to find their way back to one another, Alexander and Zanaya, two powerful, warrior angels who do not bow and do not bend, may be their own worst enemies on the path to each other. My favorite part of the book was seeing other fave characters from the series in the eyes of different characters. We also get to see a lot of Archangels who are already ancients when we meet them as younger angels, before their ascension, or get to see some angels as children which was awesome! Final Thoughts If you like paranormal romance books featuring Archangel's, angels and vampires, then you should check out the Guild Hunter Series, starting with book one, Angel's Blood for Angel's, Vampire's, Vampire hunters and Much much more!
