Nine months of school is enough. No one wants summer school too! Unless, of course, its the 1987 movie "Summer School" starring Mark Harmon. You always hear us talking about unappreciated movies that were tossed aside and forgotten about that deserve a little more recognition. This is definitely one of them. I can't tell you how many times I have watched this movie! Many years ago, when I could actually stay up late, I used to catch it playing at 1:00 am on TBS or USA or something and I'd watch it again (and again, and again).

Mark Harmon is a high school gym teacher on his way out the door headed for summer vacation when he gets persuaded (read: blackmailed) by the principal to teach remedial English at summer school. A few other well known names are present as well. Courtney Thorne-Smith, Kirstie Alley, Shawnee Smith (who later appeared in some "Saw" movies. Yikes!) and Richard Horvitz. Well, you may not recognize Richard's name or face even. But he's been doing a lot of voice work recently including shows like SpongeBob and Invader Zim and some video games too. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago at Keystone Comic Con. He loved that I still knew him from this movie so long ago.

I don't think that I can quite categorize this as a cult classic since I bet there aren't a lot of people that actually remember. But its definitely one that has a passing grade in my book.
