Review
Although this is technically the fourth book in the Shadowvale series, this is a rare case where I really think this would work as a great jumping in point, even if you have never read a Kristen Painter book before. There are a few references to previous characters, but nothing that isn't explained well enough to enjoy this as a standalone. Onto the story - If you take my love of Beauty and the Beast, and mix it in with my love of Goblin Kings (OK ONE Goblin King .....yes THAT Goblin King - with the awesome ..... Hair), you have Moody and the Beast. I do love a Fairy Tale reimagined in a totally new way, and Moody and The Beast does just that and throws in a fun little mystery along the way too so it really has that fresh vibe that some retellings lack. As with the other Shadowvale installments, this story is totally wrapped up by the end so you can happily read away knowing that you get to close the last page with a satisfied, if somewhat sad that you reached the end already, sigh. A solid 5 stars from me and definitely Melanie's Muses approved! |
