How I found the author:  I read the blurb when scouting for books on amazon.

Why people should read​: If you love action and laughter, and romance in your books, then the entire Grishvaverse is the series for you.

Recommended Series. The Shadow And Bone Universe 

Before the massive success that was the Netflix show, The Shadow and Bone series created a world that was rich in character, extensive in its lore, with page turning action. Now, I'm the first to admit that Shadow and Bone is my least favourite of the Grishverse series - TV Alina and Mal are way less annoying than book Alina and Mal. The Crows are my all time faves, with Nickolai and his series firmly after that.

You can't read the series without starting with Shadow and Bone series, ​and it is good...but for anyone who is heading into the books under the assumption it follows the TV series, it does to an extent, but season 1 shouldn't have featured the Crows - that was all original content. 

I will say that what the TV series got right was the casting, because as soon as I saw who some of the actors were playing, it was like they had stepped off the pages and into life.

I watched season one of the TV show Shadow and Bone and then read book 1 in the series. I (well Em) has the rest of that series but I haven't read them yet (or finished Season 2).  I do like the world that she built - It's just not top of my priority list. (But hey - Team Darkling lmao)
