Day 6: Transylmania (2009)
Dave says -
OK, you know by know what I think of the rules. I'm tossing them right out the window. This is a little more spoofy, a little more comedic. But you want different, well this definitely fits the "different" category. College students take a semester to study abroad in Romania. Sounds like a good plan. Beware of the vampires though. They could be the death of you.
Melanie says -
Another one I have never heard of but this is definitely something Greg and I will be watching!

Day 5: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
Dave says -
How many knew the president hunted vampires in his spare time? If they are hiding at the theater, best to just leave them there. OK?
Melanie says -
This one is a definite YES from me. I will admit, I was dubious when it released, but coming from Tim Burton I had to check it out and I was really glad I did. Packed full of stars in supporting roles including Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, and Rufus Sewell, I highly recommend adding this to your list if you haven't seen it!

Day 4:My Soul to Take (2010)
Dave says -
Serial killer who is supposed to be dead comes back on the anniversary of his death hunting those who were born on that day. Written and directed by Wes Craven. Admittedly not his best work. But still interesting. One mistake they made with this is trying to make it in 3D when the surge of 3D movies rose. When I think of 3D, I think of things coming at you. This just wasn't anything like that.
Melanie says -
As I can't see in 3D none of the 3D stuff ever appeals to me but I do think this is a solid movie if you watch it just as the regular version like I did. Whilst it won't ever rate as the best Wes Craven option it definitely holds an underrated appeal for me and of course has the advantage that it is one that a lot of people aren't aware of!

Day 3:Sorority Row (2009)
Dave says-
Briana Evigan and Carrie Fisher are in this remake of "House on Sorority Row". What I liked about it was the changes. It wasn't exactly a remake. The initial circumstances of the death was different. The plot, the killer, motives. All different. Calling it a "loose adaptation" might be better.
Mel Says -
Huh I thought for sure I had seen this but now watching the trailer I am not so sure. That's a good excuse to watch it again right?

Day 2:House on Haunted Hill (1959/1999)
Dave says-
OK, I'm trying something new here. Its a remake but I'll also add the original in here. The classic one stars Vincent Price and is great in its own right. Some people can't deal with the older ones for whatever reason. It was definitely a different style than modern horror. The main plot is basically the same but the stakes are raised in the newer one (and prize too). The original offers $10,000 for staying overnight in the haunted house. That wouldn't cut it in 1999 so they upped it to $1,000,000.
Mel says -
I love both versions of this movie although I will say I am partial to the 1999 remake, mainly because James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) makes an appearance! That is always going to earn extra points. This is one of the cases where I think they did a really good job with updating the original premise to account for the change in time. It's a yes from me!

Day 1: Banana Splits Movie (2019)
Dave says -
OK, so if you are close to my age (whether you want to admit it or not) you remember the Banana Splits and are wondering why this is even on this list. Well, my dear Muser, someone had the idea to put them in a horror movie. A kid gets tickets to see them do a live taping of their show but their circuits are tampered with. Yes, circuits, like robots, not people in a costume. This tampering leads them to go on a killing spree.
Melanie says -
I remember hearing about this but didn't actually think it was a real thing! Not really sure how I feel about it to be honest - but it's definitely WEIRD! Way to kick this list off with a bang!
