I was introduced to Kristen's work through her Best-Selling Urban Fantasy House of Comarre Series. Great for Vampire lovers looking for something a little darker. Since then she has gone on to write The Nocturne Falls Series (Paranormal Romance - Think Hallmark with a HEA Every time), the spin off Jayne Frost Cozy Mysteries, The Shadowvale Series (Cursed is the new Awesome), The Sin City Novellas, and is currently working on a new PWF series - more details coming soon! You can check out her work on Amazon HERE - and even start a couple of the series for FREE! For more information be sure to stop by her Website
Susan is one of the few authors that has ever made me literally just put down what I was reading to take a breath and remember it isn't real! From crazy twists to killer cliffhangers - there is a Susan Harris series for everyone. Check out the EX.CO below to see which is the right one for you! Plus be sure to check out her upcoming Sanguine Crown series which is perfect for fans of the Vampire Academy series. John Patrick Kennedy
John Patrick Kennedy is the newest of my #MustRead authors with me only having discovered his work last year. His focus is Horror and Dark Fantasy and I can honestly say that there is nobody out there writing the way he does. You can check out my vlog review for Lady Dread below, but be sure not to miss out on his latest book Plague of Witches (which I describe as Stephen King meets The Magicians - and it's a little more dark fantasy than horror) which just received a starred Kirkus review!

Colleen Gleason has been on my must read list ever since the Gardella series first released. No matter what your reading preference you will probably find something that works for you in her huge collection of novels. From Historical Paranormal Romance, to YA Steampunk, From Murder Mysteries to Urban Fantasy, and plenty of gothic romance, I really feel that she can write it all! You can check out her work on Amazon HERE, and check for Freebies as she often has a couple, and of course or more information be sure to stop by her Website
Jeaniene Frost
Jeaniene Frost is the author of The Night Huntress series and various spin off novels set in the same world (and featuring many of the same characters. This author was actually a "Greg Find". He randomly picked up a book in the library he thought I would like, it turned out to be the 3rd Cat and Bones book, I was intrigued enough to go and find book 1, and I haven't looked back. The main series which followed Cat and Bones as the primary character is now finished (with one of the best series conclusions I have read), but fans have had the chance to enjoy a 4 book Vlad spin off, and currently waiting on the 2nd book in Ian's spin off series (you can see the spoiler free review for book 1 below). If you like Urban Fantasy with a decent splattering of secy romance then this is the series for you. Vampire everywhere with not a wolf in sight which as every knows is by far my favorite option. Be sure to check Amazon regularly if you are looking for her books as her publisher often has $1.99 kindle deals, especially approaching releases!
Laurell K Hamilton
Laurell K Hamilton actually writes two best selling series, The Anita Blake series (which is the one that I read), and the Merry Gentry series, which personally didn't work for me but I know it has a huge following.
Laurell K Hamilton writes darkness better than anyone else I have read, and her world with Anita is definitely one of my favorites, if not THE favorite for me to hang out in. This is a long series to catch up if you are new with 26 books currently available, but if you love to read, I would definitely recommend them. They start off with quite a different tone as you see the character Anita develop through the books, based on events, and her even growing powers.
Whilst early books have little to no sex (I think the first actual sex is in book 5 - possibly 6), this is one of the aspects that changes dramatically as the series continues. Some fans disliked the direction (but they still seemed to read enough to keep complaining about it), but for me it worked. There was always story behind it, there was a learning curve, and the more recent books have more of the criminal aspect again. You can see my spoiler free reviews below for the 2 most recent stories and maybe decide if they are for you!
